His name was Mastro Titta, and he held this role for 68 years. Over that time, he carried out 516 executions, an average of seven per year.
When he wasn’t performing executions, he made a living selling umbrellas.
Because of his role, he wasn’t allowed to leave his neighborhood, except when he was called to carry out a sentence.
