One of Rome’s most photogenic corners lies just a short walk from the Trevi Fountain. It’s called Galleria Sciarra, and it has a look that almost feels British.
Designed in Liberty style at the end of the 1800s, it forms the inner courtyard of Palazzo Sciarra, a noble family palace from the 1500s.
This gallery was created as a celebration of the ideal model of a woman at the end of the 19th century.
The walls are covered with frescoes depicting the virtues women were expected to embody: “pudica” (modest), “sobria” (restrained), as well as qualities like caring for the home, gardening, and being a devoted daughter.
Here’s a closer look at this beautiful gallery.
📍 You’ll find it in Via Marco Minghetti, 10
