Just moments from the Roman Forum, the Colossus of Constantine waits to surprise you.
This was a massive statue commissioned by Emperor Constantine for the Basilica of Maxentius in the Roman Forum.
It stood around 12 meters high (39 feet!), and today only a few fragments remain: the head, an arm, a knee, and the feet, now displayed in the Capitoline Museums.
So how can we see the full statue today?
Everything started from those fragments. The rest of the statue is lost, but it has been digitally reconstructed through careful study.
You can now experience this incredible reconstruction up close in the courtyard of Villa Caffarelli 🤩
