There are very few places where you can still attend a show in an ancient Roman theatre. One of them is Ostia Antica!

As every summer, the Ostia Antica festival takes place in the theatre inside this incredible archaeological site, which is too often overlooked by tourists coming to Rome. The festival features music and theatre plays starring artists such as Steve Hackett, Robert PlantNino D’Angelo, Michele Zarrillo and more.

In a world of fast-fashion, it’s time to become more aware of the impact we can have when buying fashion items. This exhibition/catwalk is all about sustainability in the fashion world. The location will be breathtaking: the Ancient Markets of Trajan, which used to be an ancient shopping mall (probably the first one in history!) built between 113 and 118 AD!

There will be an exhibition of brands which have moved towards the Sustainable Development Goals of the ONU Agenda for 2030. Towards sunset time there will also be a “narrated catwalk” which explains the innovation and technologies of the outfits.

We’ve been to this festival last year and we highly recommend it if you are into electronic music, digital culture and innovation.

Videocittà is a festival that takes place in an incredible location: the industrial archaeological site of the Gazometer of Rome. Which fits so much with the context of the festival itself.

There will be immersive experiences, video art, talks, lie and augmented reality performances.

We loved it and we can’t wait to return.

Summer sales – from July 6th to August 19th

saldi summer sales

When we say that sales in Italy can get you real deals, we mean it. In the Lazio region (hence Rome too) the Summer sales start on July 6th. All the shopaholics of Italy look forward to the sales, which usually take place in January (winter sales) and July (summer sales) for a period of 6 weeks.

At the beginning the discounts will be lower, starting from around 20-30%. it is good to shop at the beginning of the sales if you already know exactly what to get and you don’t want to risk not finding it anymore.

But the more you wait, the more the discounts increase, leaving the last weeks of sales with discounts as high as 50-60-70%. Of course in that case you’ll have a limited selection of sizes and colors. But that is also when the best bargains can be made.

Where to shop in Rome city center? There are many places such as Via del Corso, via Nazionale, Monti district, in the little streets near Campo de’ Fiori, and many more.

Happy shopping!

This is a truly local celebration happening in the heart of Trastevere since 1535!

The Festa de’ Noantri is a festival that will take place for about a week in July, from the 22nd to the 31st.

The grand finale on July 30th at 7:30PM includes a procession of the cedar wood statue of the Madonna boarded on a boat and traveling along the Tiber river until it reaches Trastevere. When arrived at Ponte Garibaldi, the procession will transfer on the land and continue until the basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere.

Something very unique and local to see if you are around these days!

Ipotesi Metaverso exhibition

This is one of the most mind-blowing exhibitions we’ve seen lately in Rome. A place where you can really understand how the metaverse has been part of your lives and culture since centuries.. and we don’t always realize that.

Take the optical illusions of the church of St Ignazio in Rome (made in the 1600s).. or the impossible Escher staircases.
Aren’t those “other worlds” where the rules of gravity and limits of our world do not apply?

This amazing exhibition is called “Ipotesi Metaverso”. You can find it in Palazzo Cipolla in via del Corso until July 23rd, 2023.

When Rome was a Republic – exhibition at the Musei Capitolini

events in rome in march 2023

This exhibit at the Capitoline Museums tries to give an overview about the transformation of the Roman society across 5 centuries, from the beginning of the Republic to the birth of the Empire. In case you didn’t know the Roman legacy started first as a monarchy, then it became a Republic, to the become an empire. This exhibit focuses on the Republican period, to give you an idea, the times of Cicero, Caesar and so on..

Majority of the artifacts which you can see in this exhibition are usually not visible to the public, because they are usually kept in the deposits (did you know that the deposits are sometimes more crowded of artifacts than the museums themselves?!).

This exhibit started on January 13th and will last until September 24th. More info here: https://www.museicapitolini.org/en/node/1012211

This exhibition can be perfectly combined with the “Wonders of the Capitoline hill” itinerary included in our Video Guide.
