Last year, for NYE 2023, the plan included a concert in the most spectacular location in Rome for New Years Eve and loads of free entrances to museums and archaeological sites on New Year’s Day.

Here’s some details.

Rome Restarts 23, the New Year’s Eve concert in Circo Massimo

Would there be any better location to say hello to the New Year? The New Year’s Eve 2023 in Rome happens with a free big concert in Circo Massimo.

The confirmed artists for this concert will be four Roman singers: Elodie, Franco 126, Madame e San Giovanni.

The concert will start at 9:30PM and will continue until about 1:30AM. The metro will remain open until 2:30AM, and after that time there will be night buses.

It will not be possible to bring glass bottles, alcohol and fireworks in the area of the concert. There will be checks before you enter the area of the concert.

Expectations are to have between 40000 and 50000 spectators.

Initially the concert was announced to be held in via dei Fori Imperiali, but the estimated people that would attend (based on the number of incoming tourists in Rome during those days) would exceed the space available in via dei Fori Imperiali, so the city administration decided to move the concert in Circo Massimo.

Where to see the fireworks from?

At midnight there will of course be the fireworks. The best view points to see them, if you are not at the concert already, are two of the highest panoramic points of Rome: the Gianicolo hill and the Pincio terrace in Villa Borghese.

Capodarte 2023 – New Year’s Day in Rome

On New Year’s Day 2023 in Rome there will be loads of free cultural initiatives in museums and archaeological sites. 70 events in 40 different locations: libraries, museums, theaters, cinemas, archaeological sites such as Circo Massimo, Fori Imperiali and Villa di Massenzio on the Appian Way. Everything will be open and free for the whole day!

Some of these museums will have free guided tours (probably in Italian only) which will be available to book online on www.culture.roma.it/romacapodarte from December 28th.
